Stefano Palatchi

Stefano Palatchi (born 26 March 1960) is a Spanish opera singer who has sung leading bass roles in both Spain and internationally where he is known for his stage skills, timbre and expressive singing.〔González, Ángel, ("Camerino 22 homenajea al bajo Stefano Palatchi" ), ''La Voz de Asturias'', 29 January 2005 (in Spanish)〕 His concert reperoire includes Mozart's ''Requiem'' and Verdi's ''Messa da Requiem'' which he has sung many times.
==Biography==
Stefano Palatchi was born in Barcelona and studied there with Maya Maiska, Gino Bechi, Ettore Campogalliani, and Armen Boyajian, followed by studies in Florence and New York. Since his debut in the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, in 1986, he has taken part in several hundred performances of more than thirty operas from a wide repertoire, in particular operas by Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, and those from the bel canto repertoire including: ''Rigoletto'', ''Aida'', ''Turandot'', ''Il trovatore'', ''La bohème'', ''Macbeth'', ''Lucia di Lammermoor'', ''La forza del destino'' and ''Il barbiere di Siviglia'', ''Samson et Dalila'', and ''Thaïs''. He has sung in the world premières of ''Cristóbal Colón'', by Leonardo Balada (with Montserrat Caballé and José Carreras), ''Gaudí'', by Joan Guinjoan and ''Joc de Mans'' by Alberto García Demestres He also performed in ''Turandot'', when the Liceu was reopened in 1999, following the fire which had destroyed the theatre five years earlier.
Palatchi has sung in many theatres and festivals outside his native Spain, including the New York Metropolitan Opera, where he made his debut in 1994 as Colline in ''La bohème''.〔Metropolitan Opera, (Performance record: Palatchi, Stefano (Bass) ), MetOpera Database〕 Amongst his performances in 2009 were the Spanish premiere of Cristóbal Halffter's opera, ''Lazaro'',〔(Levante: Levántate y canta ) (in Spanish)〕 and ''Tales of Hoffman''〔(La Provincia: Brillante Mundanindad en Los Cuentos de Hoffman ) (in Spanish)〕
